Google Panda 20 algorithm update was confirmed released last Thursday, September 27th and according to Google, this fairly major update affected 2.4% of English search queries and is still rolling out. The update was done a day before the EMD (Exact Match Domain) update was rolled out which eliminates low quality EMD’s from ranking well in Google. However, even non-EMD owners are seeing a drop with their rankings according to SearchEngineLand.
According to Google, the update was not just a data refresh which has been the case recently but an algorithm update.Google says it “affects about 2.4% of English queries to a degree that a regular user might notice.” But it seems the nightmare is not finish yet because according to Google, the roll out will continue for another 3-4 days or so.
Many websites were affected by the update but the bad news is that it is hard to know which update triggered the drop, is it EMD or Panda?
